Hotel Astoria introduction

The Boscolo Hotel Astoria is situated in the center of Florence, close to the church of Santa Maria Novella. The hotel has been created in the rooms of Palazzo Gaddi and Palazzo Arrighetti: two stunning historic buildings once owned by the Florentine aristocracy.

The Astoria hotel has 98 bedrooms and junior suites with views of Florence cathedral or the historic old city, some with private terrace. Every inch of every room at the Hotel Astoria contains traces of the art and history of Florence, from the frescoes decorating the walls to the period furnishings. During his Florentine sojourn, John Milton stayed at the Palazzo Gaddi and it was here, in rooms now used as a splendid meeting space, that the poet conceived "Paradise Lost".

Hotel Astoria's "Palazzo Gaddi" restaurant presents guests with a superb menu featuring the finest traditional Mediterranean cuisine brilliantly transformed in to exciting contemporary Italian nouvelle cuisine. During the long summer months, meals are served in the hotel garden. The Agorà Wine Bar, next to the restaurant, houses an exceptional selection of Tuscan wines. The Astoria hotel's wine bar, open to both hotel guests and non-residents, is a popular and long established meeting place in Florence. 15th century frescoes and Florentine medallions adorn the hotel's more reserved Arrighetti Lounge, perfect location for a quiet after-dinner drink.

The terrace of the Boscolo Hotel Astoria affords stunning views of the cathedral and the principal monuments of the city of Florence. The meeting rooms of the Hotel Astoria are quite unique, with five halls for 30 to 110 participants all decorated in Florentine Baroque style. The largest of the five function rooms features 17th century frescoes, painted by the Neapolitan artist, Luca Giordano, after whom the room has been named.
