San Miniato al Monte Florence
One of the most refined examples of Tuscan Romanesque Architecture
The Church of San Miniato al Monte, located on a hill overlooking the city of Florence, is a stunning examples of Tuscan Romanesque architecture. The church was erected between the XI and XII century. The polychrome facade in white and green marbles and a mosaic (XII century) which depicts Christ with the Madonna and San Miniato.
The relics of San Miniato are located within the altar of the church. Inside the church one can admire the Luca della Robbia decorations in the Chapel of the Crucifix, frescoes by Spinello Aretino and five Tondi by Luca della Robbia in the Chapel of San Giacomo.
